On the Motion of the Local Group and its Substructures

چکیده
The problem of the relative motion of the substructures of the Local Group of galaxies revealed via S-tree method, as well as of the velocity of the Local Group itself, is considered. The existence of statistically significant bulk flow of the Milky Way subsystem is shown via 3D reconstruction procedure, which uses the information on the radial velocities of the galaxies, but not on their distances. Once the bulk motion of substructures is estimated, in combination with the observed CMB dipole we also consider the mean velocity of the Local Group itself. Assigning the Local Group the mean motion of its main substructures we evaluate its peculiar velocity in Milky Way frame VLG→MW = (−7 ± 303,−15± 155,+177± 144) or 178 km s −1 toward galactic coordinates l = 245 and b = +85. Combined with CMB dipole VMW→CMB, we obtain Local Group velocity in CMB frame: VLG→CMB = (−41± 303,−497± 155, 445±144) or 668 km s towards l = 265 and b = 42. This estimation is in good agreement, within 1 σ level, with the estimation of Yahil et al (1977).

Modified Couple Stress Theory for Vibration of Embedded Bioliquid-Filled Microtubules under Walking a Motor Protein Including Surface Effects
Microtubules (MTs) are fibrous and tube-like cell substructures exist in cytoplasm of cells which play a vital role in many cellular processes. Surface effects on the vibration of bioliquid MTs surrounded by cytoplasm is investigated in this study. The emphasis is placed on the effect of the motor protein motion on the MTs. The MT is modeled as an orthotropic beam and the surrounded cytoplasm i...

This article deals with the study of the two-dimensional mixed convection magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer of stagnation-point flow over a stretching vertical plate in porous medium filled with a nanofluid. The model used for the nanofluid incorporates the effects of Brownian motion and thermophoresis in the presence of thermal radiation. The skin-friction coefficient, Nusselt number an...

Introduction: In external beam radiotherapy each effort is done to deliver 3D dose distribution onto the tumor volume uniformly, while minimizing the dose to healthy organs at the same time. Radiation treatment of tumors located at thorax region such as lung and liver has a challenging issue during target localization since these tumors move mainly due to respiration. There are...
